Classes

Advanced Ballet Intensive -$175

Mon, June 17 – 21 

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – For Experienced Dancers From Grades 6 Through 12

The advanced ballet intensive provides dancers with the opportunity to work with a master instructor.
Dancers will develop their technique in a challenging and encouraging environment. Curriculum will include ballet class, pointe, repertory and variations.
We will end the intensive with a special performance for families and friends.

Camps for Younger Dancers

(3 years old through grade 2)

Funky Hip Hop Camp – $80

Sat, Sept 12th & Sun , Sep 13th

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm – (In-Studio or on Zoom)

Pre-Requisites: Completed Kindergarten Through Grade 2

Funk borrows a lot of movement from all styles of dance. We will begin class with a classic jazz warm up and work on technique, moving across the floor. We will then work on combinations that incorporate hip hop movement, isolations and syncopated movements all while using proper jazz technique.

We will also work on decorating tee shirts.

Petit Princess Weekly Saturday Camp
$20 per class

Saturdays, July 11th, 18th, 25th, August 1st, 8th

For ages 3 through 5

9:30 am – 10:30 am (In-Studio)

10:45 am – 11:45 am (Zoom)

Come be a part of royalty at the Dance Center of Kirkwood as we explore the true princess in all of us. We will use our imaginations and creativity as we dance to beautiful music. Dancers will find the joy in movement, release their inner princess, and create fun crafts. Each camp is different. You can sign up for one camp or all of them.

Elsa’s Journey Camp – $90

Monday, July 13th – Friday, July 17th

For Dancers that have completed Kindergarten through Grade 2 (dance experience not necessary)

12:00 pm – 1:15 pm (In-Studio)

1:30 pm – 2:45 pm (Zoom)

We will dance to the beautiful songs of Frozen Two as Elsa, the Snow Queen, is on her journey of self-discovery.
Dancers will create Frozen crafts for an extraordinary experience.

Mary Poppins Camp – $90

Monday, July 27th – Friday, July 31st

For Dancers That Have Completed Kindergarten Through Grade 2 (dance experience not necessary)

12:00pm – 1:15 pm (In-Studio)

1:30pm – 2:45 pm (Zoom)

Trip a little light fantastic with us in this fun, creative Mary Poppins Camp. We will work on our dance technique.
We’ll also sing and dance to the beautiful Mary Poppins score. Campers will also work on crafts that will be used
as props and costume pieces. We will be waltzing on air because “ there’s nowhere to go but up”.

Nutcracker Ballet Camp -$90

Monday, August 3rd – Friday, August 7th

12:00pm – 1:15pm (In-Studio)

For Dancers in Kindergarten Through Grade Two (dance experience not necessary)

Children will study the classical holiday fantasy Nutcracker. They will design their own stage, learn crafts, and danceto Tchaikovsky’s brilliant score.Our 15th Annual Dance Center Summer Camp will focus on choreography, staging, costumes, make-up, and many more exciting and creative surprises for a total immersion into the world of the performing arts.

Intensives for Older Dancers

 For experienced dancers who have completed Grades 3 – 5 

9:30 am – 11:30 am – (In-Studio or on Zoom)

Our professional instructor will help you develop and strengthen your ballet technique. Each dancer will be challenged and encouraged to develop their art form in a supportive environment. We will also work on repertory and variations from great ballets. We’ll learn about the lives of great dancers and dance to beautiful classical music. This class is also available on Zoom.

Miss Kimmy Stevens is teaching the intensive.

Modern Intensive -$90

Monday, July 22nd – Wednesday, July 24th

11:00 am – 1:00 pm – For Experienced Dancers That Have Completed Grades 3 – 6 (In-Studio or on Zoom)

1:30 pm – 3:30 pm – For Experienced Dancers That Have Completed Grades 7 – 12 (In-Studio or on Zoom)

Dancers will expand their knowledge of Modern technique. The curriculum will include Modern technique,
improvising, composition and dance history.

Miss Erin Warner Prange is teaching the intensive. 

Princess Camp -$80

Mon, June 24 – Thurs, June 27, 2019
9:30 – 10:45 a.m. or 11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
For Dancers Ages 3 Through 5

They will be visited by the beautiful ballerina princess and will create fun crafts. Families will be able to view special dances at the end of the camp.

From Ballet To Broadway -$200

Mon., July 8 – Fri., July 12, 2019

12:00 pm – 4:00 pm – For Experienced Dancers Who Have Completed Grades 3 Through 5

Our professional instructor will help you develop and strengthen your ballet technique. Each dancer will be challenged and encouraged to develop their art form in a supportive environment. We will also work on repertory and variationsfrom great ballets. We’ll learn about the lives of great dancers like Misty Copeland & dance to beautiful classical music.
The Broadway portion combines high energy jazz dance warmups and progressions. Campers will focus on learning a musical theatre jazz dance to be performed for family and friends at the final class showing. Activities include dancers creating a costume piece and a prop for use in their final performance, deciding how to stage the performance, watching famous jazz dance compositions, and exploring shapes and styles of classic musical theatre jazz dance in a nurturing environment. Ballet To Broadway will conclude with the dancers performing for family and friends.

Kimmy Stevens will be teaching the ballet portion. Wendy Ballard will be teaching tap and jazz.

Think On (and WITH) Your Feet! Tap Intensive -$135

Mon, July 22 – Wed, July 24, 2019

9 am – 12:00 p.m.  For Experienced Dancers Who Have Completed Grades 5 – 7

12:30 pm – 3:30 pm – For Experienced Dancers Who Have Completed Grades 8 – 12

Dancers will hone their technique, train their ear with a live musician, and participate in musical and improvisational exercises. Tappers will also make and customize their own tap boards for home practice (Materials included in fee).
During the workshop, tappers will participate in a tap improvisation session, and learn choreography (both original and historical), some of which will they will have the opportunity to show during the final day’s showing for family and friends.

The workshop will be taught by Wendy Ballard and Jan Cosby, who are tap faculty at Washington University and Webster University, respectively, and will include a special guest musician
